Music & Sensory Detail Activity

Follow the directions below to create a sensory detail poem:

1) Listen to each of the songs below.  They should match up with the songs that you listened to in class while creating your sensory detail charts.  See if you can add any details to your chart for each song.

2) Choose your favorite song.  Listen to it again.

3) Using the sensory details that you filled out for this song, create a poem that includes:

  • 3+ similes and/or metaphors
  • 2 SIGHT details - colors, shapes, sizes, etc
  • 2 HEARING details - tone, pitch, volume, etc
  • 2 TOUCH/FEELING details - texture, temperature, emotions, etc
  • 1 SMELL detail - sweet, rotten, sugary, spicy, etc
  • 1 TASTE detail - bitter, sweet, sour, salty, etc

You may choose any one of the song below, even if you did not hear it in class.
